Real Happiness

What is a real happiness? what it takes to be happy in this materialistic world? Some says to have a good career, good family life, achievements of goals, having all the material things we needed in life. Nothing in life will make us more satisfied and more fulfilled than being happy. Is happiness happening in your life? For me it happens sometimes. But I want the real happiness. Someone told me that “happiness cannot come from without. It must come from within.” It is not what we see and touch or that which others do for us what makes us happy, it is that which we think and feel and do, first for the other fellow and then for ourselves. I think “It’s not what life does to me that matters, it is what I do in my life that really matters.” In my pursuit of happiness to be grateful for who I am and be contented for what I have is enough for me to be happy. Happiness is not just a feeling, it’s a condition, a choice and an attitude that we create. Happiness is something that you are, and it comes from the way you think. Happiness is free and achievable. I realize the simple, the cost-free the path to happiness can be. Always think positive. The power to be happy is within you.

Respect

For me “respect” is the major part of our lives. I think it’s like a gift. When I show my respect for others, I am in effect offering them a gift of myself, my trust, my confidence, my sincerity, and my faith in them. In order to have respect for others, you must first have self-respect. Self-respect can help create a healthy, responsible outlook towards life. Self-respect makes me more humble I feel my ego doesn’t rule my feelings. It’s like you give yourself and your needs the same respect and dignity you give anyone else’s. When we respect others for the way they live their lives, we are telling them to respect us too. I remember one person that some time in my past I was disrespectful to her. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” If you want to be treated with respect, then treat others with respect too. I learn that in life, everything comes full circle, so whatever you do to others will eventually comes back to you. when it does comes back to you, it’s going to be a lot more than you expected! Respect begets Respect.

Family time

It’s great to be with friends over the weekend. I’m lucky because our board meeting this afternoon was re-scheduled next week. Saturday and Sunday is my time for my family to have a quality time for them. “No other success can compensate for failure in the home.” Because for me family is so central to attaining happiness. The family is the foundation of society. Human beings are made for each other, and the best in each person can only come out if he or she is in contact with someone else. And there is no greater relationship than the kind I maintain with my family. Sometimes I ask myself why spend more time in other endeavors such as work when in the end, only family and my relationship with them will remain. This is the beauty of having family. Amids the concerns and pressures of life, in a sea of uncertainty, chaos, and concern, there is someone, somebody you can run to. I know that I’m welcome and loved. Having a family is like having a refuge from the storm, a boat in the midst of the wild sea. These days, there are so many challenges to the family. More and more people prioritize material wants and needs over stating a family. and mass media also encourage a more materialistic views, with barrage of advertisement that make unessential products look more like necessities than what they really are- luxuries. Prioritizing the more important things in life means putting my family first.
